Steenberg High School Music and Arts Centre

Steenberg High School has a brand-new Music and Arts Centre with a foyer, office, store room and most importantly, plenty of space for two school orchestras to practice and perform in. CCPB donated R2.25 million towards building the Centre which was CCPB’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) project for 2017, built in partnership with the Rotary Club of Newlands. It was officially opened in September 2017. The building is a place for learners who come from low income communities to develop a positive self-image and grow in confidence as they perform, leading to improvements in their behaviour and academic performance too. The school’s two orchestras have performed at the Baxter, Artscape and at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Some of the most talented musicians are also part of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
