Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages marks Mandela Day with meaningful action across Cape Town communities

Fri, Jul 18 2025

Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages marked Mandela Day 2025 with hands-on volunteering across Cape Town, turning 67 minutes into meaningful support for communities in need.

July 2025

In honour of Mandela Day 2025, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages (CCPB) proudly joined hands with local organisations to make a real difference across Cape Town. In the spirit of Madiba’s legacy, CCPB teams dedicated their time to volunteer at various projects that brought warmth, nourishment and hope to those who need it most.

From preparing hot meals to packing food parcels, creating educational tools and uplifting vulnerable groups, CCPB teams showed up with purpose — dedicating their 67 minutes (and more) to support multiple initiatives throughout the CCPB region in the Western and Northern Cape.

Highlights from the day

Soul Kitchen with Jenny Morris at the Salesian Institute (Green Point)
CCPB volunteers joined celebrity chef Jenny Morris to prepare and serve over 10 000 cups of soup and 9 000 sandwiches delivered across Cape communities.

Financial Shared Services raffle for good (Parow)
CCPB’s Financial Shared Services Department used proceeds from an internal raffle to purchase and donate essential baby care items to Hannah’s Place of Safety, a home supporting abused and abandoned infants.

Rusthof Old Age Home (Paarl)
The CCPB Paarl team donated canteen furniture and served soup to more than 100 elderly residents, bringing them comfort and care.

Ladles of Love at Cape Town Stadium (Cape Town)
Teams helped pack food hampers, build garden kits, craft preschool toys and create educational posters, all in support of early childhood learning and food resilience.

FoodForward SA at Century City Conference Centre (Cape Town)
Working alongside other volunteers, the CCPB team helped pack food parcels for vulnerable households across the Western Cape.

SPCA Paarl Animal Shelter
The CCPB Paarl team donated food and blankets to support more than 20 animals at the local SPCA shelter, ensuring care and comfort for rescued animals.

CCPB Country drive
CCPB teams in Worcester and Vredendal handed out freshly prepared sandwiches to those in need within their communities. In Hermanus, they delivered sandwiches to the Hawston Clinic, The Grail Center and Mthimkhulu Village Center in Kleinmond, while the Springbok team dedicated their distribution to patients and staff at the Nababeep Clinic — ensuring that kindness and nourishment reached even remote areas.

Tygerberg Hospital – Cancer ward (21 July)
CCPB will close off its Mandela Month activities with a visit to Proteahof residents and cancer patients at Tygerberg Hospital, handing out soup and fruit packs to support recovery and well-being.

“Mandela Day reminds us that even small acts, done with great heart, can be a changemaker and make a difference in the life of beneficiaries on the day,” said Priscilla Urquhart, Head of Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability. “We’re so proud of our team for bringing their passion, energy, empathy and ongoing commitment to giving back, living out our purpose every day.”

Mandela Day forms part of Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages’ broader focus on community impact, sustainability and employee-led volunteering. Through long-term partnerships and year-round programmes, CCPB remains dedicated to building and supporting the well-being and resilience of the communities it serves.
